Batch Maker

Job Tasks Include:
Read work orders to determine production specifications and information.
Record data from operations, testing, and production on specified forms.
Weigh or measure materials, ingredients, and/or products at specified intervals to ensure conformance to requirements.
Notify supervisors of needed repairs.
Reject defective products and readjust equipment to eliminate problems.
Weigh or measure materials, ingredients, and products to ensure conformance to requirements.
Test samples of materials or products to ensure compliance with specifications, using test equipment.
Operate or tend machines to mix or blend a wide variety of materials such as resins, solvents, pigments, colorants, additives, and specialty chemicals.
Dump or pour specified amounts of materials into machinery and equipment.
Observe production and monitor equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Stop mixing or blending machines when specified product qualities are obtained, and open valves and start pumps to transfer mixtures.
Collect samples of materials or products for laboratory testing.
Add or mix chemicals and ingredients for processing, using hand tools or other devices.
Examine materials, ingredients, or products thru visual examination, touch, or test method, in order to ensure conformance to established standards. RequirementsKnowledge:1. Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.2. Mathematics- Knowledge of arithmetic, statistics, and their applications.3. Chemistry-Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.4. Mechanical- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.Skills:1. Operation and Control- Controlling operations of equipment or systems.2. Equipment Maintenance- Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.3. Operation Monitoring- Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.4. Active Listening- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.5. Troubleshooting- Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.6. Active Learning- Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.7. Equipment Selection- Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.8. Quality Control Analysis- Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.9. Reading Comprehension- Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.10. Critical Thinking- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
