Synopsis of Role:

This individual will be responsible for coordination of all field placement experiences to include observations and culminating clinical experiences for American Public University System (APUS) School of Education students. The incumbent will serve as an advisor to students, faculty, school district personnel, and University staff concerning field placement. The individual will function as part of a team with the Senior Manager of Assessment and Accreditation, Coordinator of Certification and Licensure, Certification Administrative Assistant, the Administrative Assistant in the School of Education, the Dean of the School of Education, School Wide Program Director and the individual program directors to provide outstanding service to all constituents.

Essential Functions:

  • Conducts orientation sessions regarding field and culminating clinical experience requirements, processes and expectations.
  • Serves as a liaison with public school districts to coordinate field based placement opportunities.
  • Provides appropriate guidance and information to candidates through the Readiness Audit process prior to culminating clinical experience and maintains documentation required as part of the Readiness Audit.
  • Assists in maintenance of student files to include development, organization and revision of documents as needed for the School of Education regarding field placement.
  • Prepares presentation materials for briefings and meetings regarding field and culminating clinical experiences.
  • Prepares various reports for internal and external constituents.
  • Assists in preparation and maintenance of documentation required for State Department of Education review and accreditation purposes.
  • Assists in maintenance and updates of all relevant databases (candidate files, POC placement sites, etc.).
  • Conducts research on assigned tasks and compiles information regarding school district placement polices, field placement trends, etc.
  • Assists in documenting, tracking and analysis of relevant information forthe Senior Manager of Assessment and Accreditation andthe Dean of the School of Education.
  • Creates documents and presentations that reflect findings of data analyses.
  • Manages multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Supports the Senior Manager of Assessment and Accreditation and the Dean of the School of Education in accreditation processes.
  • Responds to general e-mail and phone inquiries regarding field and culminating clinical experience and documents all communications with students involving field placement questions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

Required Experience
  • Masters degree required.
  • Minimum three years experience in a certified K-12 public school position, such as teacher, school counselor, or building administrator.
  • Evidence of strong leadership or management experience.
  • Online or hybrid education program experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current technology required.
